How long is the kitchen unusable during the remodel?
The kitchen is generally out of commission for 3 to 6 weeks, depending on scope. We coordinate with you to set up a temporary kitchen elsewhere in the home: a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee bar, and dish station. Most Sturgis homeowners survive on the temporary kitchen plus more take-out than usual.
Can we open up our 1970s Sturgis ranch into a great room?
Almost always yes. We engineer the structural beam, get the permit, and run the remodel. Some load-bearing wall removals require a structural engineer’s stamp for the beam sizing, which we coordinate. Sturgis ranches generally have either truss roofs or post-and-beam framing that span large openings cleanly once engineered.
What countertop holds up best in a Sturgis vacation rental kitchen?
Quartz, every time. Granite is fine but needs to be sealed periodically (vacation-rental hosts forget). Quartz is non-porous, stain-resistant, heat-tolerant within reason, and survives short-term-rental abuse better than any other natural-or-engineered stone option.
